Dr Leblanc leads a discussion in female sexual health. Experts share in the causes of diminished libido in women.
What is Female Sexual Dysfunction
When does sexual dissatisfaction equal dysfunction? Sexual satisfaction is defined
as the ability to achieve orgasm every time a woman is intimate. In a recent survey
in the US, 43% of women said they have had one or more sexual problems:
- 33% Complained of low sexual desire
- 24% Reported the inability to come to orgasm
- 14% Experienced pain during sex
There are 4 primary dysfunction categories:
Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD)
This is the inhibition of the general arousal of sexual response. The woman with
FASD does not lubricate. Her vagina does not expand and there is not formation of
the orgasmic platform. She typically does not feel erotic sensations and may even
find physical contact repulsive or find it enjoyable only to a point.
Female Orgasmic Disorder - Anorgasmia
This is impairment of the orgasmic component of the female sexual response. This
is quite distinct from FSAD. With Female Orgasmic Disorder, the women may be very
sexually aroused but never reach orgasm.
Vaginismus
This is the recurrent or persistent involuntary spasm of the musculature of the
outer third layer of the vagina that interferes with sexual intercourse.
Inhibited Sexual Desire
Inhibited sexual desire is often a side effect of a variety of conditions including:
- Chronic physical disease such as diabetes, artheriosclerosis.
- Hormone deficiencies
- Depression – SSRI Prescription
- Stress
- Alcoholism
- Psychological repercussions of life events
If you feel that you have any of these symptoms described, now is the time to speak
to your personal physician for a complete evaluation. Meanwhile the use of Sensua
is a safe FDA cleared enhancment that can be bought Over-The-Counter to immediately
help address symptoms. So what does this mean and how does Sensua address it?
Androgen Testosterone Deficiency
Caused by Adrenal Insufficiency – a very rare condition and occurs in about 1.5 million US women.
Normal Aging
A woman's testosterone production decreases 70% between the ages of 20 and 60.
Therefore a 20-year-old woman has a high testosterone level, strong libido (desire)
and the ability to achieve strong intense orgasm.
A 50-year-old woman usually has about one half the testosterone production that
she did when she was 20. With that come a reduced libido (desire for sexual experience)
and a reduced intensity of orgasm.
Birth Control Medications
Birth control pills do not affect the production of testosterone from the adrenal glands
but they do increase the sex-binding globulins in the blood. The globulins act like sponges
soaking up all the free testosterone in the blood stream thereby reducing what is available to
the genital tissues.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
As women age, testoserone decreases which decreases libido. There's also a lack of
lubrication. Many turned to use of HRT. But in recent years, there's been a link between HRT and
breast cancer. Until now, there has not been a suitable replacement for HRT
