The term “clitoral erection” cannot be found in the medical literature before the 1990’s. Vaso-congestion is the medical term that describes the action where more blood is going in to an organ than is released. This vaso-congestion causes the clitoris to increase in length and diameter and protrudes erectly outside of the clitoral hood.

This hypersensitivity of the clitoral nerves allows a women to achieve orgasm.
